SOME people over 50 learnt the value of keeping active yesterday.
Durham City Council's Meadowfield Leisure Centre was the venue for a Healthy Lifestyle for the Over 50s Day, organised by the council, Age Concern, and the Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust.
Participants received information about nutrition and diet and diabetes awareness. Therapists demonstrated complementary therapies, and people were invited to take part in gentle exercises to music and an easy walk.
The event was rounded off with a tea dance.
It followed a similar day at Sherburn Leisure Centre recently, in which the oldest participant was 91.
