AN operatic society which is approaching its 100th year is looking for past members to join its centenary celebrations.
Chester-le-Street Operatic Society was formed in 1903 and in its lifetime has survived the closure of two major theatres, the Hippodrome and the Empire Theatre.
Now the group meets at Park View Community Theatre and for next year's centenary celebrations the society is unearthing old programmes, memorabilia and photographs and is now looking for past members.
The group is inviting former members to join a sit-down meal at Chilton Lodge Country Club in Fencehouses in November 2003.
The meal will be about £20 a head and should include entertainment.
Past and present members wishing to take part should contact Jackie Ranson on (0191) 3891314.
