Saturday's rearranged RSPS Mike Winney Memorial slumped to a mere 30 rods but for those who did turn up to support this classic event sport was unmisable with 12 double figured weights sharing nearly 300lbs of fish.
Yarm's Brian Havelock just fell short of the Ainderby best by 4ozs lifting the trophy with a terrific bag of 51.11.0. Low clear and bright Brian found the chub basking in the far side shade on the run off as waggler and bronze maggot accounted for 21 samples plus a dace and grayling.
Runner up Jim Taylor of RSPS Tek Neek Trabucco on the end peg at Holme replied with 11 quality chub on waggler and maggot for 39.10.0. Then highlight for 3rd place Don McAllister proved a barbel of 8.4.0 in an otherwise chub net of 36.2.0.

The Upper reaches of the Swale also produced some great sport when Darlington's Ken Close annihilated the opposition during the Jim Batty Memorial putting together 63.4.0 during this four-hour event.
The RSPS Tek Neek Trabucco member fished the RAFA jetty swim at Ellerton and was into chub from the start. Edging the float along far cover 11 chub fell to meat while 6 readily accepted wasp grub. Newcastle's Steve Hoggins prevented another 'Close family' 1-2 pipping Ken's brother Cyril by 7ozs.
Upstream of Great Langton Bridge Steve on the stickfloat and caster tempted 6 chub and a single grayling for 24.10.0.
Still on the Swale Turners Tackle pair Tommy Marshall and Steve Anderson tamed a windswept river at Swainby for the honours during Idle & Thackley's Open. Tommy fishing wasp grub and caster on the bomb below Maunby Village in the streams weighed in 6 chub for 20.8.0 from Steve above Kirby Grove Island 3 chub for 11.1.0.
The Tees continues to deliver and the scoresheet read well during the NYSD Federation Don McMasters Trophy at Over Dinsdale headed by Harrowgate Hill's Bob Walker who recorded 28.8.0.
Bob below Bowl Hole corner worked a big top and bottom float. Offering both meat and lobworm on the hook chublets and a trio of small barbel obliged and despite a specimen estimated at 8.0.0 slipping the hook at the landing net the conclusion remained the same.
The end peg in the Greenfield came good for Darlington's John Whitehouse whose 2nd place chublet return took the scales to 23.9.0.

Encouraging news on the River Wear small silver fish fed throughout the newly pegged match length around Chester le Street. Washington's Andrew McNeil on peg 33 between the two bridges waggler fished bronze maggot down the middle picking up a mixture of roach dace and chublets for 10.4.0 from Terry Guthrie of Team Metro 9.6.0.
The Fulford stretch of the Ouse below the City played host to just 33 rods for York and District's second match of the season The Noakes Cup.
Lack of flow and colour checked weights and Mick Wood's 7.8.0 clinched the verdict. The Anglers Corner regular landed a bonus bream of 3.0.0 along with roach and perch to stickfloat and maggot from the stump hole to finish a pound clear of Mick Potter of Anglers World.

A magnificent rainbow at Leighton Reservoir took the scales to 13.8.0 on this North Yorks venue. Bradford's W Reisir tempted the whopper on a Dawson 's olive. Small dry flies doing well - Bibio, Montana and daddy longlegs. 177 visitors 464 trout. 70 limit bags. 124 fish over 3.0.0.
Shildon's Graham Caygill was also into monsters at Jubilee Lakes Redworth. Presenting a black buzzer he subdued a hard fighting rainbow that pushed the scales to 20.2.0. Meanwhile Saltburn's Nick Krejbich used a purple zonker taking an impressive brace of 14.10.0 & 13.5.0.
Prices at Tunstall Reservoir until the end of October are now £15 for a 12 fish limit and boats for the day cost £8.

Fontburn 464 rods - 1236 fish. T Rowlands of Newcastle grassed the best rainbow of 8.9.0 on a black spider. Best flies cat's whisker, vivas, hoppers and appetizers. Kielder 159 visitors - 285 fish. P Walker took a rainbow of 11.8.0 from the Leaplish length.
