Sedgefield squad took on the Scottish champions Warrender (Edinburgh) for a friendly match and in a very competitive game, Sedgefield, despite being 10-8 behind in the third period, stormed back in the last period to win 17-11 and keep their unbeaten record at this age group this year. Ben Richardson was man-of-the-match.
On Saturday a very young Sedgefield team shocked Dunfermline to win 8-4. They then followed up that friendly victory with a 11-2 win over Menzieshill from Dundee in a tournament based in Dunfermline and then beat Warrender 6-4 to set up a clash with the current national 1986 champions Lancaster.
Lancaster had decimated everyone they had played in the tournament, but Sedgefield played their best game ever in the opinion of their coaches to completely unsettle Lancaster. However, a disputed goal on the final whistle saw Lancaster sneak victory by 4-3.
Considering four of Sedgefield's first seven were born 1988 not 1986 it was a superb performance.
Scott Carpenter scored two of the three goals while Ben Richardson was player of the tournament for Sedgefield for his tigerish performance all over the pool.
On Sunday, Sedgefield had a comfortable 11-7 win over Dunfermline with Samantha Mitchell voted player of the game for some excellent goals at centre-forward.
The squad which travelled to Edinburgh was Phillip Moore, Lee Davies, Chris McEneany, Tom McEneany, Chris Gilbertson, Ben Richardson, Scott Carpenter, Sarah Scott, Chloe Willcox, Samantha Mitchell, Claire Longley, Gareth Butcher, Michael Scott, Daniel Kellett.
