The annual Darlington Inter-Club Leek Show, which attracts hundreds of entrants, takes place this weekend.
The event is open to all members of workingmens' clubs in Darlington and the district.
On Saturday, a series of leek shows will take place around the town with growers battling it out to get through to the next heat.
Entrants who finish high up the results table will be able to qualify for the Champion of Champions' Leek Show the following day.
Show promoter Brian Summers said: "This is the 55th annual show, which is an achievement in itself.
"It shows how dedicated the Darlington club men are - helping to keep this event up and running for so long."
The Sunday event will take place at the Hopetown and Whessoe WMC, Alliance Street, Darlington.
Judging will start at 8.30am to find the champion growers in classes for pot, trench and intermediate leeks. Doors will open at noon, with presentations at 1.45pm.
The show is sponsored by the breweries that supply the Darlington clubs, The Northern Echo and Glenwood Paints.
The Durham branch of the Club and Institute Union has donated trophies.
