LOCAL people are being urged to play key roles in a three-year campaign to regenerate their market town.
The Thirsk Regeneration Initiative is asking local people to consider playing their part by joining the committee
Initiative chairman Lindsay Ross said: "This is an initiative for the people of Thirsk driven by regeneration improvements they wish to make that fit with the aims of our action plan.
"The people of Thirsk and surrounding villages have shown tremendous interest and support by suggesting schemes, but this is a chance to go a step further and take part in bringing these suggestions to reality by joining the committee or one of our focus groups."
The Initiative is to receive a total of £340,000 from the regional development agency Yorkshire Forward for regeneration schemes which, with match funding, could bring a total of £1.6m into the market town and its area during the three-year programme.
