A death crash driver was facing jail last night for a dangerous overtaking move which left a two-year-old boy dead.
Stephen Robinson, 45, a self-employed plumber, was told by a judge that the only matter to be decided was how long he will serve behind bars for the death of Dylan Taylor.
Dylan was strapped into a child's seat in the back of a Peugeot 106 when Robinson's Ford Transit van ploughed head-on into the car as he overtook on a blind crest of a hill.
Robinson, the father of a boy, was found guilty after a four-day trial of causing death by dangerous driving last November.
Dylan, of Beaconsfield Street, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, died six days after the accident from his injuries.
Robinson, of Dene Grove, Darlington, was driving his ten-year-old van on the A168 Thirsk to Northallerton road, near Thornton le Beans, when the crash happened.
When the jury at Teesside Crown Court reached their guilty verdict, relatives of the dead boy hugged in joy at the back of the public gallery.
Robinson was granted bail for reports before his sentence in four weeks time.
