PEOPLE in Ryedale looking for advice on how to apply for planning permission will benefit from a new service to be launched next week.
Every Wednesday from October 2, between 5pm and 7pm, residents will be able to book 15-minute sessions with planning officers to guide them through the planning process.
"The aim of the surgeries is to provide Ryedale residents with the chance to discuss their applications with planning officers out of normal office hours," said Gary Housden, Development Control Manager for Ryedale District Council.
"The surgeries are for residents who are making applications without an agent and will include minor development proposals such as extensions."
Ryedale District Council is one of many local authorities in the country struggling to keep up with increasing development pressures and hopes are high that this additional service will help reduce waiting lists for local people.
"We are looking to hold the surgeries every Wednesday for the next three months or so and see if they are proving to be of added help to local people," said Mr Housden.
"We hope that this is a way of providing extra advice for local people but I would urge people to book early to avoid disappointment," said Mr Housden.
