PROSECUTION lawyers are deciding what action to take over an alleged confrontation involving a former mayor of Middlesbrough, Councillor Pat Walker, and a resident, Joan McTigue, in the town's Thorntree Cemetery, last month.
The encounter followed Mrs McTigue's call on the National Standards Board to investigate an overspend on the mayor's budget last year.
Coun Mrs Walker is the wife of Cleveland Police Authority chairman, Coun Ken Walker.
Cleveland Police confirmed at the time they were looking into a complaint of an "altercation" in the cemetery.
A force spokeswoman revealed yesterday a file on the incident had now been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service. She said they expected to be told of a decision within the next few day.
Both women made statements to Cleveland Police.
