MORE than a dozen police officers from Chester-le-Street and Durham took on the challenge of completing a decathlon in a day to raise money for charity.
The ten-discipline event at Chester-le-Street's Riverside complex yesterday was to raise money for Tommy's Campaign, a charity which funds research into miscarriages and stillbirths.
It was organised by PC Lisa Rooney, based at Chester-le-Street police station, and those who took part made a cash donation.
Together with proceeds from a raffle and other efforts, an estimated £400 to £500 was raised.
The decathletes included Lisa and her husband Steve, Ian Blakemore, Mick Button, Ellis Hall, Karen Hall, Dave Hancock, Martin Lineham, Ian Madsen, Steve Minns, Bob Nicholson, Dave Sampson and his brother John, Neil Stevenson and Louise Walton.
