Tow Law New Market B opened out a four points lead at the top of the table after they beat the visiting Stanley Earl Derby by three points.
John Clarke took the first singles point for the Derby but then the hosts took over with wins from Tom Dowson, Doris Elsbury, Stephen Umpelby, Gavin Tennant and Phil Spencer. The league leaders looked likely to extend their advantage further after Tom Dowson and Doris Elsbury took the first doubles but the Derby recovered to take the last two doubles to make the score respectable.
Wins in all three doubles gave Tow Law Cattle Mart a three points victory over the visiting Hamilton Row Black Horse and second position in the table, one point ahead of Sunniside Comedian and Newhouse Club. The Mart had singles wins from Alison Boughey, Robbie McFadden and Colin Boughey with John Christelow, John Henderson and Bobby Hird replying.
