A DARLINGTON school handed out about 250 prizes at its annual awards evening.

Hundreds of parents attended the event at Hurworth Comprehensive School.

School spokeswoman Rita Rees said: "In the past we used to have one event for the whole school, but it has got so big that we split it into two, for the lower and upper schools.

"What we try to do at Hurworth is give credit to all children, not just the academics."
