A TALENTED North Yorkshire rider has qualified for the national dressage championships for disabled riders.
Lindsey McLaren from Langthorne, Bedale, is one of 20 qualifiers who will be competing at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, for the British title tomorrow. She hopes Asanti, her 17-year-old chestnut gelding, will be the star performer.
The Strongid-P disabled rider dressage championships were set up as a joint initiative between British Dressage and Riding for the Disabled Association. Riders compete under one of four grades, depending on the extent of their disability, with grade one being for those riders with the least capabilities.
Riders have to be aged 14 or over and have international classification. Lindsey will be competing against five of the country's leading riders in the grade three section.
Animal treatment Strongid-P have sponsored the event for the past four years.
Laura Jenkins, the brand manager, said: "We take great pleasure in supporting such a high-calibre and enjoyable event, and wish all the competitors every success."
