NORTHUMBRIAN Water has appointed two strategic partners to help manage its £1bn improvement programme.
The company, and its Southern operating division Essex and Suffolk Water, has chosen Atkins, Faithful and Gould and EC Harris, to provide cost management, project management support, performance management support, contract administration and business planning over a three-year period.
The five-year improvement scheme, which began in 2000, will benefit about four million customers.
It includes new water and sewage treatment works and the renewal of more than 3,000km of pipe work.
George Murray, director of Atkins, Faithful and Gould, which is based on Teesside, said: "We are delighted to continue our long-term relationship with such a prestigious client as Northumbrian Water.
"We look forward to being instrumental in assisting the company to achieve its business objectives over the next three years and beyond."
