FANS of flower arranging and alternative therapies enjoyed a delightful day on Sunday thanks to the generosity of a newly-wed bride.
Karen Grey, who married Harry Humble at Low Woodside, between Consett and Lanchester, on Saturday, handed her flower-filled wedding marquee over to the Macmillan Cancer Care charity after her wedding for an event called Wedding Flowers and Healing Powers.
Visitors paid £5 to see a fabulous floral display by renowned artist David Rylands and meet complementary therapists.
Macmillan is one year into a three-year campaign to raise £600,000 to improve the level of support to terminally ill cancer patients and their families. The charity is close to its first year target of £200,000.
Karen said: "As my family and so many others sadly know, the work of the Macmillan nurses is hugely valuable to cancer sufferers. They are famous for their all-embracing, practical support and compassion. We are delighted that the fundraising team has been so imaginative in creating this event in our wedding marquee."
