AN Indian film company suffered a major setback to its plans to shoot a Bollywood film in the North-East when Teesside University declined the request to use buildings on the campus and up to 300 students as extras, saying it would be too disruptive.

Khawar Hussain, marketing director for KK Films, said that filming on Ya Jaan Bhi Tumari, Ye Dil Bhi Pumhata would continue on locations throughout the North-East and North Yorkshire, with the university scenes being relocated to London.

The latest setback follows a statement by the film's promotion company to allay fears surrounding documents handed over at auditions.

Cleveland Police had received an undisclosed number of complaints about Pinnical Promotions, the firm recruiting extras for KK Films, from people concerned that they were asked to hand over driving licences and other important personal documents for identification.

A Darlington woman who contacted the police has withdrawn her complaint after her driving licence was returned.

Pinnical Promotions manager Mohammed Alli said he had been in touch with police about the matter and added that anyone with concerns could call the company - which is still looking for extras - on (01642) 211385.
