A FOOTBALLING legend last week helped people to score work at a jobs extravaganza.
Former Newcastle United and England striker Malcolm MacDonald opened Durham's annual Christmas Jobsfair in the Town Hall last Thursday.
Organised by Durham Jobcentre, it advertised around 300 vacancies including full and part-time retail and hospitality jobs with employers like Marks and Spencer, BHS and the Marriott Hotel.
There were also many permanent administrative and care worker positions with local organisations like the Prescription Pricing Authority, Carewatch and the University Hospital of North Durham.
Janet Kelly of Durham City Jobcentre said: "A lot of temporary jobs become full time so this was an ideal opportunity to begin developing a career in the retail sector."
