CHILDREN from a pre-school group put their best feet forward to raise awareness of a dangerous disease.
About 200 children, parents and staff from Sure Start Wear Valley took part in a sponsored "toddle-waddle" to raise funds for the Meningitis Trust.
They walked, many dressed in yellow or as ducks to reflect the day's theme, from the playground opposite the KwikSave store to Woodhouse Close Church, in Bishop Auckland.
Afterwards the children enjoyed a party in the church with face-painting, a tombola, balloon race and side shows while their families were given information and advice about meningitis. Children's TV characters Bob the Builder and the Tweenies also attended the event.
