WORKSHOPS are proving that there is life after the bus pass.
The Active Age in Derwentside project is launched in the Democratic Club, Middle Lane, Consett, at 10am today.
A series of taster sessions will be on offer and organisers Age Concern hope it will lead to more groups for older people being set up in rural areas.
The charity's local manager, Maureen Colohan, said: "We want to get people who are approaching older age to do more with their lives and have a fulfilling older age."
The morning includes armchair aerobics, reflexology, flower arranging, reminiscence games, quilt and proggy mat making, healthy eating and cooking.
After a buffet lunch, there will be a tai chi demonstration and a dinner dance.
