A MAN is in hospital after he was in collision with a car in Stockton.
The 33-year-old was crossing Yarm Road, near Hartington Road, at about 7.15pm on Saturday, when he collided with a red Nissan Primera.The driver of the car returned to the scene. The pedestrian sustained a broken arm, pelvis and leg. His head was also cut. He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees where he is in a stable condition. SILVER STRAINS: Music from the shows, military airs and pop are on the programme of the Silverwood Band, making its debut at the Langdon Square Community Centre, in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, on Saturday.
HOUSE BLAZE: A woman was given oxygen by firemen after a bedroom fire that damaged carpet, a wall and some bedding. The fire, in Croft Road, Eaglescliffe, on Sunday, was out when the fire brigade arrived.
kITCHEN FIRE: Flames wrecked a cooker and caused smoke damage to a flat in High Street West, Coatham, Redcar, at the weekend. The fire was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
DIABETES DISCUSSED: Dr Bill Kelly, from the Diabetes Care Centre, Middlesbrough, will give a talk called The History of Diabetes on Teesside, at the North Riding Infirmary, Middlesbrough, today.

IT WIZARDS: Chris Tomkinson achieved a distinction and fellow Stockton Sixth Form student Martyn Taylor, a pass, in the annual British Informatics Olympiad, a three-hour exam designed to discover "genius programmers".
