ESSENTIAL night flying for student pilots will take place at RAF Linton-on-Ouse and RAF Church Fenton from next Monday to Thursday, October 10 and Monday and Tuesday, October 14 and 15.
Night flying starts at about6.30pm and finishes by midnight. Every effort is made to keep noise disturbance to a minimum.
KILBURN KANTER: The 18th Kilburn Kanter will take place in the Hambleton Hills on Saturday, November 2. The long-distance walkers association's challenge has two routes - either 22 or 30 miles - from Kilburn village hall. Registration starts at 6.30am and all entrants must have an OS map, compass and whistle. There is a £5 entry fee. For more details contact (01943) 462801.
FASHION SHOW: Barkers of Northallerton is holding a clothes show featuring its country casuals range on Wednesday, October 9 at 7.30pm. The event is held in the nurses' recreation hall at the Friarage hospital and tickets cost £6, including a drink. All proceeds go to the stroke rehabilitation unit of the Rutsen Hospital in Northallerton. For tickets call (01609) 775027.
LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION: An autumn luncheon in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Thirsk branch, raised more than £400. The next event will be a sale of Christmas cards at the Golden Fleece, Thirsk, on Monday, starting at 9am.
SALE AND AUCTION: An attic sale and auction of promises is taking place on Saturday to raise money for the Rutsen Hospital in Northallerton. Viewing starts at 11.30am at Thirsk town hall and the sale starts at 1pm. For more details, call (01347) 868738.
COFFEE MORNING: Yorkshire cancer research is holding a coffee morning on Thursday, October 10, from 10am in the Methodist church hall, Northallerton High Street. There several stalls and admission is free.
CHURCH CONCERT: The Northallerton Ladies' Choir, with musical director Alec Jackson, will give a concert in All Saints' Church on October 12 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3.50 including refreshments. They can be bought at the door. All proceeds will go the Children's Society.
