The man gunned down outside a Sunderland pub has been named as James William Bannon.
Police were today still waiting to speak to the 49-year-old, who was undergoing further surgery on his badly injured left thigh.
Mr Bannon was the victim of a shotgun attack on Monday at around 7pm, outside a pub near his home in the Hendon area of the city.
He was left bleeding on the floor of the Rovers Return pub in Ward Street for 30 minutes, before armed police finally gave paramedics the go-ahead to move in.
They are still keen to trace a man seen leaving the scene on a motorcycle just after the attack. Anyone with information should contact Sunderland City CID on 0191 454-7555, extension 66144.
