MORE than a dozen bobbies from Durham and Chester-le-Street last week took on the challenge of completing a decathlon in a day to raise money for charity.
The 10-discipline event at Chester-le-Street's Riverside complex was held to raise money for Tommy's Campaign, a charity that funds research into miscarriages and still births.
The event was organised by PC Lisa Rooney based at Chester-le-Street police station and those taking part all made a cash donation. Together with proceeds from a raffle an estimated £400 to £500 was raised.
The decathletes included Lisa and her husband Steve, Ian Blakemore, Mick Button, Ellis Hall, Karen Hall, Dave Hancock, Martin Lineham, Ian Madsen, Steve Minns, Bob Nicholson, Dave Sampson and his brother John, Neil Stevenson and Louise Walton.
