DARLINGTON Borough Council has given the go ahead for two new care homes for the elderly in the town.
Hanover Housing has been granted permission to build an extra care residential development on the former east Haven site at Yarm Road.
The three-storey building will consist of 42 flats with communal facilities.
At the same meeting yesterday, the planning committee gave permission for St Martins Care to redevelop the empty Neville House on the corner of Whinbush Way and Whinfield Road.
The home will provide a 74-bed facility for elderly people.
