A TRAINING day is to be held in Darlington for people who work with the elderly.
The arts, crafts and creativity day, to be held next Thursday, at St Cuthbert's Church, is sponsored by the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (Napa).
It aims to improve the artistic skills of those attending and enable them to develop the creative responses of the elderly people they work with.
The event is being held after the success of the Growing With Age project, launched in Darlington at the beginning of August to improve facilities and make residents' lives more active in care homes and sheltered accommodation.
The scheme was the first of ten pilot schemes nationwide.
Regional coordinator Char-mian Lawrence said: "The arts, crafts and creativity day will provide an exceptional opportunity for anybody who works with the elderly in whatever capacity to develop their own creativity."
