A BAD week on North Yorkshire's roads was compounded by another fatal accident yesterday.
The driver of a car was killed in a collision with a lorry on a dual carriageway section of the A64 at Barton Hill, near Castle Howard.
The identity of the driver, who died at the scene, had not been confirmed last night. The driver of the lorry was shaken but otherwise unhurt.
On Tuesday, John Harrison, 63, of Shipton Lane, Wiggington, died after losing control of his vehicle on the A19.
His pick-up truck, towing a Ford Anglia used by ITV's Heartbeat series, plunged into a ditch near Shipton after clipping a car travelling in the opposite direction.
Heartbeat producer Pat Brown said: "He was a good colleague and friend to everyone on Heartbeat and will be sadly missed by us all."
Police are also investigating an accident on the A1 on Monday in which Andrew Plummer, 43, of Hamilton, Lanarkshire, died when a lorry struck his car on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway, between Boroughbridge and Dishforth.
