THE man gunned down outside a city pub has been named.
Police were last night waiting to speak to 49-year-old James William Bannon, who was undergoing further surgery on his badly injured left thigh.
Mr Bannon was shot at about 7pm on Monday, outside the Rovers Return pub, near his home in the Hendon area of Sunderland.
Police are still keen to trace a man seen leaving the scene on a motorcycle just after the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sunderland City CID on 0191 454-7555, extension 66144.
