Brompton: Brompton U9s entertained a Richmond squad in two mini soccer matches and produced an excellent performance from an unchanged squad from last week. Brompton ran out winners with scores of 7-0 and 8-0 In the first match goals came from Chris Holmes-2, David Holmes-1, George Austick-1, James Pugh-2, Adam Wilson-1.The best of these was from the Captain Chris Holmes, a "Ryan Giggs " style run his own goal area beating most of the Richmond team before hitting a lovely goal. The second match was won 8-0, goals from George Austick-2, David Holmes-2, James Pugh-2 and Adam Wilson-2. Adam scored 3 goals over both games despite only playing two halves. Oliver Lowther, Mark Spraggon enjoyed good games.

Brompton U10s entertained Thirsk Falcons and this also provided excellent entertainment between two very strong sides. The results of the four mini soccer matches played were 2-1; 4-1 and 3-0 to Brompton and 3-5 to Thirsk. Brompton and Thirsk played good passing football. Goals for Brompton were scored by David Lloyd (3) Martin Clark, Andrew Caisley, Tom Pugh, James Hunt, Ben Gledhill and Callum Brown (4)

Brompton U12s travelled to Hardwick Youth in the Teesside JFA and returned with a 3-0 victory. Brompton goals were scored by Alex Caisley (2) and Pete Chandler. Man of the Match was Ayrton Carlton.

Brompton U14s travelled to old rivals Darlington Spraire Lads and took part in a game of two halves. Spraire raced into a two goal lead in the first ten minutes. Spraire added a third goal just before half time. After words of advice by the Brompton manager at half time, Brompton responded well. Within five minutes of the restart Lawrence Rab put a fine through ball to Stefan Pearson to score his tenth goal of the season. Ten minutes from time Scott Goodrum was upended in the penalty area and Rab clinically dispatched the resulting penalty. In a frantic last ten minutes Brompton continued to pressurise and in the last minute Peter Starr scored the all important equaliser straight from a corner to complete the remarkable comeback.

Riverside FC

Riverside under 8s were beaten in the first round of the Russell Foster Youth Cup in a hard fought game against Town Castle Rovers. Shots by Ross Elliott and Danny Ryan were superbly saved and the game went to extra time and then penalties where Town Castle won 2-1

The under 9s, who were also on cup duty, progressed safely through to the third round thanks to victories against Newbottle and Doxford Park. Liam Hall and Michael Roberts were on target against Newbottle and Brett Turnbull and Michael Roberts (2) scored against Doxford Park.

This week saw the under 10's falter slightly in their bid to retain their premiership league title. In their first game Adam Reach scored his first hat trick for the club as they brushed aside Durham County Jets 3-0. They then had a tough battle against Washington Envelopes who eventually ran out 1-0 winners.

The under 11s were away to a very strong Ashbrooke side who eventually ran out 3-0 winners.

The under 12s also played Ashbrooke in a thrilling game which eventually ended 4-4. This point was enough to keep Riverside in second position.

Blackfyne

The under 8s beat Cleveland Hall Blues 3-0 with goals from Calvin Hillary, Jonathan Telford and Keiran Martin who was also Man of the match.

The Under 9s Blackfyne Greens beat Low Fell 1-0 with John Meadows scoring the goal. Andrew Turnbull was MoM. The Under 10s Blackfyne Bullets beat Redheugh 3-0 with Rob McConnell and Lee Terrington scoring ( 1 own goal ) and Peter Westgarth MoM.

Blackfyne Gunners drew 1-1 with Dunwhick. Callum Parkinson scored the goal and Martin Hester was MoM.

The Under 12s lost 4-2 against Leam Rangers Greens. Stephen Shaw and Matthew Punton scored and Andrew Rennoldson was MoM.

The Under 14s lost 5-2 at Willington in the County Cup. Lee Calvert and Shaun Donaghy scored the goals and Scott Goldsmith was MoM.

Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League

Low Fell and Hebburn Reyrolle both scored seven times in the Under-11 division. Low Fell defeated Leam Rangers 7-0 when most of the goals were scored by James Hall (3) and Ricky Fenwick (2). Hebburn Reyrolle, meanwhile, visited Consett and recorded a 7-1 success when Darren Bird and Joshua Nicholson both scored twice.

Gordon Nicholson and David Farrell both bagged a brace of goals in Heworth's 4-0 win at Blackfyne and both Nick Montgomery and Lee Whitfield notched a couple of goals as Winlaton finished 6-0 in front of Prudhoe.

Beamish and Redheugh shared the points in a 3-3 draw. Harvey Willis scored twice for the home and Tom Goldsmith also netted on two occasions for the Reds.

In the Under-12 section Ross Terrington found the net on two occasions assisting Beamish to victory against Blaydon and James Brotherston also scored twice as Whickham Fellside B saw off the challenge from Consett by the odd goal in nine. Blackfyne went down to Leam Rangers G when Dean Martin bagged a brace of goals while Cleveland Hall and Winlaton finished 3-3.

In the Under-13 section Consett reached double figures at Low Fell C ending 10-0 in front. Liam O'Connor rifled four goals and both Daniel Bruce and Jack Lovell secured hat-tricks.

Dean Johnston netted twice as Low Fell B defeated Blackfyne, while Cleveland Hall and Leam Rangers Y drew 3-3 and Blaydon and Winlaton ended 1-1.

Just two games were played in the Under-14 divisions and there were wins for Redheugh who ended 9-0 at Burnside and Blaydon, narrow 2-1 victors over Leam Rangers.

Colin Byrne was the toast of Felling Magpies as he rifled six goals in his side's 8-3 victory at Stocksfield, but the highest score in the section was recorded by Leam Rangers at Rutherford where they put in nine goals. Ryton drew 2-2 with Beamish, Cleveland Hall ended 3-3 with Consett and Blackfyne defeated Redheugh 2-0 with both goals credited to Harry James.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

Walker Central still lead the table despite being held to a goalless draw by Chester-le-Street, who conceded their first point in three outings. Walker Central are six points in front of Redheugh who were without a game and only three matches went ahead.

Whitley Bay recorded the biggest win of the day defeating Prudhoe Town 7-0 as the goals flowed from Phil Gray, Colin Laws and Simon Reay who all bagged a brace. Scott Blandford was the Bay's other scorer.

North Tyneside College went down 2-0 to West Denton for whom Stephen Dodds and Andrew Brunton were on target.

Rohm and Haas GOC Hetton Youth League

Lumley lost their unbeaten record when they went down 3-2 to Herrington who made it three wins out of four.

The Cestrians appeared to have no chance of saving the game when they conceded three goals by the early stages of the second half, but when Craig McManus struck twice, it was all to play for. Herrington, however, held on and are fourth from top behind joint leaders Ryhope, Jarrow St Bedes and Lumley.

Jarrow St Bedes had no difficulty seeing off the challenge from Sacriston. Two goals ahead at the halfway stage they romped to a 2-0 victory as John Smith, Paul Kelly and Michael Gallagher all scored twice and Andrew Farrell also found the net.

After trailing by two goals at half-time, Hebburn defeated Lambton Street 3-2. Chris Greaves put the Wearsiders ahead after five minutes and Craig Smith added a second goal in the 25th minute.

Simon Jacobs started Hebburn's reply in the 52nd minute and when he levelled six minutes later the result was wide open. There were only ten minutes remaining when Mark McShane clinched the winner for Hebburn who celebrated their second victory.

Ryhope, one of three sides with the same number of points at the top of the table, were without a fixture when their game with Washington Dunlop was postponed.

Hungry Jacks

Hungry Jacks, Northallerton U13s travelled to Darlington Albion U13s. In the first half it was all Jacks who pressurised Albion and created many chances. Tom Richardson of Hungry Jacks took a corner kick and put it straight into the goal from the corner minutes later more pressure from Hungry Jacks.

Jacks won another corner and Tom Richardson took the kick and scored again straight from the corner. Jason Bradley made it 3-0 at half time after a brilliant build up. In the second half Albion put Hungry Jacks under a lot of pressure but Jacks defence held out. Final score 3-0, MoM Tom Richardson, captain Jason Bradley.

Thirsk Falcons

Thirsk Falcons U 10s travelled to Brompton and were beaten in three of the four games.

Thirsk A lost their first game 2-1 against Brompton A with Nick Newcombe scoring with a headed goal.Thirsk created several good chances but the Brompton goalie kept Thirsk at bay.Thirsk A were 3 - 1 down at half- time in their second game against Brompton B but an excellent second-half performance saw Thirsk come out 5 - 3 winners,the goals coming from Nick Cressey 2, Ryan Mckendry 2 and Dan Easton. Thirsk B lost both their games, first losing 3-0 to Brompton B and then 4-1 to Brompton A with Steven Jamieson scoring Thirsk's only goal.

New County North Durham Youth League

David Taylor with a hat-trick and Shaun Lockey (2) scored most of the goals when Blaydon defeated Wylam 6-3 in the Under 16 division. A couple of goals by Liam Docherty enabled Cleveland Hall to secure the points from Redheugh and Glen Cuthbert also scored twice as Beamish finished 4-2 in front of Blackfyne.

Birtley hammered Rutherford 9-0 and Consett won 4-2 visiting Wardley. Scott Reay claimed a couple of goals for the Steelmen.

In the Under-17 division Tony Thirkeld struck six goals in Redheugh's 9-2 victory over Wear Valley and Daniel Appleby scored all three goals as Consett finished 3-0 winners at home to Swalwell.

West Denton defeated Montague BC 2-1 while Felling Magpies romped home 5-0 at Blaydon when Anthony Thompson struck a hat-trick. Andrew Hetherington also scored three times and Daniel Graham twice as Leam Rangers ended 9-4 winners over Blackfyne.

South Durham Royals Under 12 Girls

Royals travelled to Blyth on Sunday seeking their third victory in succession in the Tyne Tees League. First quarter was closely contested. The next 15 saw Royals pressuring Blyth with Helen Morrison, Fiona Cantwell and Vicky Wray having shots on target.

Just after half time V Wray crossed from the left and Rebecca Toppin challenge the keeper and scored 1-0 on 38 minutes after some good passing then midfield F Cantwell knocked the ball through the keeper's legs 2-0 44 minutes. Blyth replied intercepting a Royals goal kick to make it 2-1.

Royals regained composure and continued to pressure the Blyth defence, Rebecca Pattinson hitting the post from 20-yards.

After 58 minutes F Cantwell took a good cross from R Toppin and released a powerful shot which gave Blyth keeper no chance.

Strong defensive work from A Saunders and Jake White throughout saw the score remain 3-1 to Royals. Man of the match for third game in a row Rebecca Toppin.
