In the Villa Real Cup third round holders Billingham Wanderers won 3-1 away to Glaxo who played well but could not score, while Bobby Swift sent the visitors into an interval lead. After the restart Billingham went further ahead through Bob Hatfield and the issue was settled when Mick Taylor scored.

However, a Alan Briggs header was Glaxo's consolation.

Ferryhill Greyhound lost 2-7 away to Owton Manor with hero of the game Davy Ward who played in goal as Greyhound had no regular goalkeeper. The Manor scored after ten minutes through Micky Skirvins and a brace from Mark Linneghan and one apiece from Alan Evans and Kenny Denham gave them an interval lead. After the restart Ferryhill scored to make it 2-5 but further goals from Skirvins and Barfy settled the issue for Manor.

Masons Arms lost 2-3 to leaders Newton Aycliffe. The first half belonged to Masons who led 1-0 at the interval courtesy of an own goal. The restart saw Derek Turner level with a piledriver of a shot, but Aycliffe went ahead through Gerry Crossan. Though Masons levelled, with only 30 seconds left Tony Jinks grabbed the winner for Aycliffe.

Langley Park Rams Head lost 2-6 away to Spring Gardens who led 2-0 at the break courtesy of Kenny March and Colin Pallister. Micky Griffiths pulled one back for Rams after the restart but Griffiths made it 4-1. The Rams again scored but further goals from Ronnie Pygall and McAlister settled the issue 6-2 to the home side.

Wynyard Vets, division thre leaders, found Marden a difficult side to hold and eventually lost 0-2 at home.

In division one Barnes Hotel were at home to Croft but neither side took advantage of chances and the game ended goalless.

In division two Consett Duke of Wellington came back to form to win 3-0 at home to promotion contenders Hebburn. Goals from Shaun Peacock and D Gladstone gave them a 2-0 interval lead and in the second half a goal from Hohn Morrisroe saw them easy 3-0 winners.

Billingham are still unbeaten and lead division three on goal different. They won 3-0 at to Marsden Inn with the score 0-0 at the interval. In the second half Paul Wilson gave them the lead and scored a second minutes later with the final goal coming from Wilson.

West Cornforth won 1-0 at home against Darsley Park with Tony Rowe scoring both goals. Bernard Rooney was outstanding for Cornforth.

Wingate won at home to Darlington Railway 3-1. In division four Crook Town lost 2-3 to second place Toll Bar. Crook opened strongly and took the lead through David Frame but the Bar came back and goals from Paul Johnson and Alec McGee gave them a 2-1 interval lead. After the restart Brian Fowler levelled for Crook but a late goal from McGee gave the home side the points.
