A WOODLAND walk, designed to inspire children with special needs, has won a top award.
Local people and the business community clubbed together to help cover the cost of the sensory trail through the grounds of Springwater School, in Starbeck, Harrogate.
Bulbs, plants and bird boxes were donated by well-wishers who also gave up their own time to transform the disused playground.
Teacher Chris Wingate said: "We specifically designed the sensory woodland walk to appeal to everyone.
"There are musical instruments, specially scented plants, wind chimes as well as different textured plants and surfaces."
All the hard work has not been in vain, as the garden has been awarded the Sir Richard Graham Youth Enterprise silver cup.
"I am absolutely delighted that everyone has been rewarded and recognised," said Mr Wingate. "This was a real community effort from business people, staff and local people and everyone connected with the school."
