FOUR senior members took part in the inaugural North East 24 hour track relay for life in aid of Cancer Research held at Monkton Stadium Jarrow. Chris Griffith, Kevin Chester, John Hewitson and helped by Michelle and Paul Williams and Colin Seccums ran and walked well in excess of 150 miles. The teams thanks go out to all those who supported them, especially Mandy Chester whose constant cheery support was greatly appreciated.
The junior middle distance group who compete in Cross country events over the autumn and winter season have resume training at the Stadium 2000 Shildon, old and new members welcome on Monday and Wednesday at 6-00pm the seniors cater for both men and women of all standards. Also on a Wednesday evening the eight-11 years train at the stadium 6-7pm. Also the sprint section resume training on Monday October 7.

Evenwood Roadrunners
Darren Fairclough overhauled Neil Douthwaite to finish first at the Bishop Auckland 10km road race in 41mins dead 170th with Neil 49 seconds later for 208th position. Kenny Sams and James Sowerby both enjoyed their tussle for 47mins dead 358th and 392nd place 57 seconds later.
Donna Douthwaite had a good run for 52.53 495th, Alan Dickinson completed the event in 56.48 for 563rd placing from a large field of 639 runners.
Neil Douthwaite brought the club home first in 41.54 in an excellent 58th position in the club's first ever visit to the Ray Harrison Memorial 10km road race in Billingham.
A better race from James Sowerby saw him finish in 46.37 112th. Steven Coatsworth was not far behind with 48mins dead in 129th. Donna Douthwaite and Kenny Samms both crossed the line together for 53.09 183rd and 184th, Alan Dickinson and Alan Thompson both finished with crediable times of 57.46 208th and 61.27 218th from a field of 244.
A great day was had at the Dalton 10-miler junior race as the juniors showed the seniors how it is done as they ran away with three prizes. First U12 girl was Bethany Hubery and Daniel Leving first U12 boy with Zoe Bailey, Sarah Douthwaite and Paul Todd all counting to take the first team honours.
Demi Douthwaite and the Coatsworth children of Amy, Emily and William all had good races.
First veteran over 50 and first for the club in 67.18 was Tony Hindmarch, Neil Douthwaite came in 72mins dead with Kenny Sams 80.50 and James Sowerby 82.42, Alan Dickinson finished well in 1:42.39.
Seven members travelled to Nottingham for the half-marathon where Gary Atkinson finished in 1.26, 1.30 was Neil Douthwaite's and his wife Dinna 1:52.58 just ahead of Kenny Sams with a 1:53.02 timing and Alan Dickinson finished well in 2:18.47 as did Julie Gallagher and Dawn Ord both recording 2.45.
Quakers RC
At the recent Tartan Games held at Gateshead International Stadium, 4 junior athletes participated. In the Under 15 Girls, Abby Wilson was 3rd in heat 2 of the 800 m in a time of 2:34. Alex Snook was 1st in heat 1 of 800 m in 2:33.3 and 4th in the final of the 75m hurdles in 13.6 s. Kimberly Adamson was 7th in the long jump with 4.29 m. Daniel Small competed in heat 2 of the senior mens 200 m and finished 5th in 24.2 s.
The Quakers Running Club hosted the 10 mile Dalton Dash.
Results: Alasdair Tatham was first senior male in a time of 57:18, followed by Paul Kelly 58:44, Paul Emson 60:35, Andy Henderson 61:10, Jonathon Welsh 62:13, M Ingram 62:48, Wayne Bramley 64:06. Alison Raw was first lady in a time of 64:49. Free car parking. Senior race commences at 11.00 am, and junior 2 mile fell race at 11:15 am.
A number of Quaker athletes travelled across to Carlisle's Sheepmount stadium recently to compete in their last track and field meeting of the season.
