A FATHER who has raised thousands of pounds to help terminally ill babies is now hoping to see his son do the same.
Stan Barron, 63, from Redcar, has taken part in the Great North Run for many years, raising money for Zoe's Place, a hospice for babies in Liverpool.
Now he has passed the fundraising baton to his son David, 30, who is hoping to raise more than £4,000 for the new Zoe's Place hospice on Teesside, by taking part in this year's half-marathon.
The family became involved with the charity - which provides 24-hour care for children, from newborn to the age of four - through mum Margaret, who works there.
David said he was inspired by his dad's success to enter the run this Sunday.
He said: "It's such a worthwhile cause and the new hospice in Normanby will bring the same amount of joy for the babies, parents and nurses as its predecessor has done in Liverpool."
