A FUNDRAISING event takes place at the weekend in aid of a teenager who suffered serious injuries when he was struck by a train.
Ben Woods, 17, of Hurworth, near Darlington, lost his right arm and left leg in the accident, which occurred on the East Coast Main Line, in July.
Family and friends of the youngster have now launched an appeal to pay for prosthetic limbs to aid his recovery.
An all-day fundraiser will be held at the Turks Head pub, on Bondgate, Darlington, on Sunday.
The event starts at 12.30pm with a pool tournament, and entry costs £1 per person. Participants can play solo or in teams of two.
A barbecue and music will also feature, before the highlight of the day - an auction of men, which starts at 4pm.
A battle of the bands will bring the day to an end, starting at about 7pm.
