FIREPLACE manufacturer John Willetts is celebrating after being named retailer of the year by heating firm Baxi.
The business, in Cambridge Street, Spennymoor, County Durham was among 50 companies from across the UK invited to the Belfry for Baxi/Valor's annual awards.
As well as a trophy, the company was awarded £4,000 in prizemoney to spend on advertising.
The cash is already being put to good use on a series of television advertisements.
Company owner Mr Willetts, 54, said: "The television advertisement seems to have done the trick with more people coming into our showrooms.
"We plan to run another set of televisions adverts in the early part of next year."
Former wagon driver Mr Willetts established the business 26 years ago. It employs 34 staff at its fireplace showroom and has three associated factories in Spennymoor.
As well as catering for homeowners wanting to improve their fireplaces, John Willetts works for leading house builders on their developments, including Wimpey and Haslam Homes.
