Following a last minute cry off by Wearside 11's, a hastily arranged fixture with a scratch Durham Police side, saw a Durham come out on top, with a comfortable 53-7 victory at Hollow Drift.
A strong all round performance during the first half saw Durham go into half time with a 29-0 lead, with five tries and two conversions from Blake, Leybourne, Martin, Unsworth and Noble. A spirited second half from the Police saw City put under more pressure, and following a scrum 10 meters out, they were rewarded with a converted try following a back row move and some excellent support play, mid way through the second half. However, City reasserted themselves up front and continued to attack the Police line at every opportunity, resulting in a further four tries and two more conversions.
