It was success at the double for Darlington Rugby Club Minis when their under-11s and under-12s won their age group competitions in a recent tournament hosted by Alnwick RUFC.
The under-12s won all of their games without conceding a point, with Calum Penderleith and Daniel George outstanding in a good team performance.
The under-11 A squad also won all their games, while the B squad lost only one match.
Last weekend, Darlington Minis were honoured to be chosen as the opposition for the official opening of the new Billingham RUFC clubhouse, when former England and British Lions player Mike Weston was guest of honour.
The under-12s overwhelmed a plucky Billingham side to win 52-14, with Jake Young scoring two tries and Toby Lawson performing well, while the under-11s lost 12-5.
Darlington under-7s were beaten by ten tries to eight by Billingham, while a mixed under-7/8s game was drawn five tries each. Robert Brough, Luke Baldwin and Dominic Butler impressed with their tackling and running.
The under-9 and under-10 games involved mixed Billingham/Darlington teams and the competitive yet sporting occasion provided a fitting celebration for the Billingham club.
Anyone wishing to join Darlington Minis section should come along on Sunday at 10.30am to Blackwell Meadows, or ring the clubhouse for further information on 01325 363777.
