AUSTRALIAN pop star Dannii Minogue, who once sold out at major venues all over the world, is to appear at a small pub in Newcastle's East End.
Her appearance at The Cluny, on Wednesday, is a major coup for the pub, with Dannii performing to a crowd of only 250.
Kylie's younger sister will sing her forthcoming dance anthem Put The Needle On It during the show.
"It's incredible to think that we will have Dannii Minogue singing live at the Cluny," said the venue's manager Davey Bruce.
"When they rang up to see if we could do it, I thought someone was having a joke. But then I realised they were being serious.
"We were only too happy to say yes. We have a good reputation as a live band venue, so I hope that is why they have chosen us."
And he joked: "I'm hoping to book Dannii's sister for Christmas."
In Australia, Dannii was initially a bigger star than Kylie, and it was only after the pair duetted on a children's talent show that the latter took her first steps on her phenomenal singing career. As Kylie made it big in Neighbours, Dannii became a star in rival soap Home and Away.
She first hit the UK charts in 1991 with Love and Kisses, following it up with the likes of Jump To The Beat, This Is It and All I Wanna Do.
Put The Needle On It, is released on October 28, and was co-written by Dannii.
She has now signed a long-term album deal with WEA London Records, and is currently putting the finishing touches to her album, working with leading DJ Roger Sanchez.
