PLANS for a new nightclub in Redcar look likely to be approved.
Planning officers at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have recommended that councillors approve the application to open a nightclub at 28, The Esplanade, Redcar.
Only two letters of objection have been received by the council, both from similar businesses.
Management from neighbouring The Top Deck and Leos and Silks sent letters of complaint claiming that Redcar is already at saturation point for nightclubs, other clubs have not survived, the club may create anti-social behaviour and the premises are not suitable.
However, a report to the planning committee to be considered at a meeting at Eston Town Hall on Wednesday, at 10am, recommends approval.
The report says: "This location on the sea front is amongst entertainment uses such as prize bingo, amusement arcades and hot food restaurants.
"The issues raised by the objectors are in the main competition orientated.
"The issues raised are not different to the existing operators on The Esplanade."
If the plan is approved applicant Paul Raffique, who already owns a number of late night establishments in the town, must still apply to the Licensing Committee.
