A CHINESE company is targeting the North-East as it attempts to develop its business in the UK.
Huafa International (UK) Limited manufactures and supplies silver jewellery to wholesalers across the world and has set up offices at Team Valley, Gateshead.
Partners Jianwei Huang and Hao Li hope the operation will be as successful as those in the United States, South America, Africa and Turkey, which employ 500 staff.
The move to the North-East came about through contacts with the International Business Centre (IBC), a joint initiative between Gateshead Council and One NorthEast, aimed at attracting Chinese businesses to the region.
Andrew Tate, from the council's economic development service, said IBC had attracted 36 companies to the borough.
