Pool won by a single goal at Shrewsbury and the victory means Pool have not lost away from home this season - and it is now a club record 11 games without defeat on the road.
Shrewsbury rarely threatened Pool and Williams' goal - his sixth of the season - came when he collected Mark Robinson's through ball and slotted the ball through the legs of the advancing keeper.
