A DRIVER had a narrow escape after his car overturned on a roundabout.

The motorist, thought to be in his thirties, managed to get out of his Ford Focus before firefighters arrived on Friday evening.

The accident, at a roundabout near the former Poole Hospital, Stokesley Road, Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, happened at about 11.30pm.

Coulby Newham Fire Station Officer David Hobson said: "There were no other vehicles involved and we're not sure how it happened. He went over the top of the roundabout and finished up upside down. The front of the car was crushed but he had got himself out. He had no injuries."
