THE go-ahead has been given for the final phase of work on Citygate, which involves 8,000 square metres of office space built on the site of Gallowgate coach station in Newcastle.
The office space development will complete an ongoing project that has already created 57 luxury flats and 6,000 square metres of office space.
Architect Ryder was appointed in 2000 as masterplanner and architectural consultant for the development, which is due for completion in the spring of 2004.
Bob Nicholson, of investor and developer the Hanro Group, which is overseeing the development, said: "The completion of Citygate will form a key milestone in the dramatic transformation of the west side of Newcastle city centre, between St James' Park and the Redheugh Bridge."
