FOUR police officers completed the last leg of a trek around the country's football grounds yesterday, to raise funds for the families of murdered schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Yesterday, the journey took the team to Sunderland, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington and York.
The officers from the Cambridgeshire force - Inspector Steve Selves and PCs Phil Enderby, Paul Roberts and Ifor Maddox - all worked on the inquiry.
They were given a guided tour of Darlington's new £20m stadium on Neasham Road, and received a signed shirt from director of football Luke Raine. It will form part of an auction of memorabilia from grounds across England and Wales.
The final visit was to Manchester United's Old Trafford ground last night - ahead of the club's match against Everton.
"We thought it would be fitting to end at Manchester United because it was the girls' favourite team," said Mr Enderby.
