THE number of flights from Newcastle Airport to Amsterdam is to increase later this month.
From Sunday, October 27, flights will rise from six to seven each weekday - the increase coming in the wake of substantial passenger demand to fly with KLMuk.
More than 285,000 passengers have flown between Newcastle and Amsterdam in the past year.
Passenger numbers on the route went up 15 per cent between January and September this year, compared with the same period last year.
Business development director at Newcastle Airport, Chris Sanders, said: "Demand for the route to Amsterdam has continued to grow from year to year and we are delighted that KLMuk has responded to this by increasing the number of daily flights."
General manager of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines UK, Tony Le Masurier, said: "It is fantastic to be able to offer our customers this increased service from Newcastle.
"KLM is the only airline which flies to Amsterdam from all regions of the UK. With improved schedules and increased capacity nationwide, KLM's offering for business travellers has never been stronger."
