SEVEN buildings in North Yorkshire have been short-listed for awards at a ceremony taking place in Leeds on Friday.
Church Farmhouse at Caldwell near Richmond , and Dolphin House in Askrigg, Wensleydale, have been nominated for the annual Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Pro Yorkshire Awards, sponsored this year by McCormick's Solicitors, of Leeds and Harrogate, Yorkshire Bank and Yorkshire Forward.
Also in the running are the Zenith at Westgate near Kirby Lonsdale, the Poplar Tree Gardens and Sixth Avenue developments in York, a Yorkshire Water development in Scarborough, and the new Whitby Abbey Visitor Centre.
The awards celebrate exemplary initiatives and developments in land, property and construction, with categories for commercial development, residential, regeneration and conservation, social schemes and tourism.
The People's Choice has also been introduced, with members of the public nominating any project they consider worthy of recognition.
RICS regional director Chris Johnstone said: "Once again, we have received very high quality nominations and selecting a shortlist for our panel of judges has been a tough task."
