AT the Junior Great North Run David Orr produced a very good run to finish the 5 km race in 25.20 with sister Katie following in a time of 28.10.
In the half marathon, first home was Colin Everson in 1.27.50, Peter Shuttleworth 1.28.25, Martin Lowrie 1.28.56 (pb), Gerry Hehir 1.29.56 (pb), Ian Hutchinson 1.31.10, and Jeannette Hutchinson 1.49.05.
At the Cleveland Triathlon Sprint Relays, the team of Mike Mallen, Graham Bradshaw, Simon Fell and Geoff Hewitson performed superbly winning the Novice Section by an amazing 28 minutes.
The previous weekend saw Geoff Hewitson turning his talents to the fells, finishing 14th in the ten-mile Stanhope Fell Challenge in a time of 86 mins, Gerry Hehir 90 mins and Allen Purdham 114 mins.
Finally Ann Turner, from Tow Law, was encouraged by her daughter Zoe Britton to take up the Ton-Up Summer challenge promoted by Wear Valley Council and ended up breaking the record of miles walked/ jogged with a staggering 361 miles.
