THERE was nothing to smile about for the Low Fell Jolly Miller when they were on the wrong end of a massive mauling when they came up against reigning champions Stanley FC.
The Stanley outfit rattled up a crushing 21-2 win to move themselves into second place.
Leading the torture was the league's lreading marksman Mark Drake who struck an incredible goal. Marc Urwin notched a hat-trick and there were two goals each for David Robson, Craig Suggett and Kris Hewitt along with goals from Mark Lee and Tony Robinson with new signing John Robinson grabbing both of the Miller's goals.
Most games took place in the Durham Hospitals Cup where pride of place goes to Felling Mulberry who won 4-2 against Thornley Officials and that after going a goal down in just 15 seconds.
Gary Harkness levelled it up before a headed goal from club captain Robbie Drummond to put the Mulberry into the lead followed by two more Harkness goals as he completed his hat-trick and settled the issue.
South Moor Sports played away to league rivals Grange Villa and found them selves leading by 2-0 with both goals from Steven Green getting but eventually lost out by the odd goal in five.
Pelton Crown found themselves hit by a 7-0 defeat at Ferryhill Leisure Centre while the Garden Farm played Burnmoor Cricket Club and lost 3-1 - Alan Green getting the Farm's consolation.
Pelton Fell WMC played current holders Ferryhill Surtees Dynamos and lost by 3-1.
The scoreline flattered the holders as the Fell had plenty of chances but only managed a Danny Bankhead goal.
