A POLICE scheme to reward good behaviour has halved youth disorder problems over the summer in a North-East city.
Calls to Newcastle West police complaining about youth disorder in the Arthur's Hill area fell from 241 last year to 122 during the period of July to September this year.
Operation Gemini, operating under New Deal, saw community beat managers reward well-behaved youngsters with free tickets for ten pin bowling and free entry to leisure facilities during the summer holidays.
The area command is now looking to build on the operation next year.
