IT is business as usual behind the bar of a traditional village pub, even though it has been taken over by a fast expanding brewery chain.
Noel Page is staying on as manager of the Grey Bull, in Stanhope, under a 20-year-lease agreement with new owners Jennings Brewery.
He previously ran the pub for his mother, Isobel Page, who also owns the Golden Lion in St John's Chapel, which the company wants to add to its portfolio. The Grey Bull will be operated under Jennings' new divisional name of InnVentures.
Brian Naylor, business development manager for the brewery, said: "Jennings has an on-going acquisition programme across the whole of the North of England and this is another example of our commitment to purchasing first class pubs.
"We are very much looking forward to working with Noel, promoting the pub and giving him any support he needs to achieve his business goals.
"We are now actively looking for a suitable lessee for the Golden Lion and other pubs which we are acquiring."
