Sporting Club Sunderland lost 2-1 to Hartlepool Town who took the lead in 15 minutes with a free kick from Steven Ashton.
Hartlepool had most of the play in the first half but were unable to capitalise. Sporting Club were level in 52 minutes when Kevin Knapp won the ball 25 yards out and chipped the ball over the keeper. Sporting Club's Gareth Greener was sent off for elbowing an opponent in the 75th minute. From the free kick Chris Birkbeck received the ball in a mix up in the box to slip it past the keeper for he three points.
Shildon Railway won 4-1 away to Ebchester FC. Kevin Hamilton hit two with Phil Appleby and Douglas Grant getting the others. Mark Turner replied for Ebchester.
Whitehill FC, hosting Durham Victoria Bridge, just won 2-1 in a close encounter. The second half was going the same way until Darren Burnham for Durham slipped the ball past the keeper from a mix up in the box on 70 minutes. Whitehill stormed back two minutes later, Justin Robson headed a cross from the left to Gary Robson who side footed it in. In 80 minutes Whitehill went ahead with John Embleton beating the keeper after receiving a pass from Mark Elliott.
Seaham The Duke won 4-2 away to Garden Farm Real. Scott Burns hit three of the goals, Ian Bell getting the other. Brian Wilkinson and David Perdy replied for Garden Farm.
Simonside Social Club got a 6-2 hiding at home from Seaham Mallard who went ahead in four minutes, James Taylor the scorer. John Reynolds made it 2-0 in six minutes. James Taylor got his second in 17 minutes. John Reynolds then made it 4-0 after 28 minutes. Mark Ord pulled a goal back for Simonside in 41 minutes. Straight from the restart John Reynolds completed his hat trick with a special goal, hitting it straight from the centre spot over the Simonside keeper. Barry Cougle hit number six for the Mallard. Steven Carling getting another for Simonside.
Belford House won 5-2 away to Birtley Rown Reserves, Michael Cairns (2), Joe Holborn (2) and Kevin Taylor getting the goals. Lee Cuthbertson and Colin Beadling replied for Birtley.
In the Auckland Charity Cup, League leaders Coxhoe Athletic had an easy start in the competition winning 8-0 away to Evenwood White Swan.
Spennymoor Black & Decker also went through to the next round with a 3-0 win against West Auckland Queen's Head. Brandon Station beat Darlington East End 6-0.
